Novec 1230 Clean Agent Gas (FK-5-1-12)

Novec 1230 (FK-5-1-12), also known by its chemical name Dodecafluoro-2-methylpentan-3-one, is the most environmentally advanced clean agent fire suppressant currently available. Developed by 3M as a next-generation alternative to FM-200 and halon, it combines highly effective fire suppression performance with an extraordinary environmental profile — a global warming potential of just 1, an ozone depletion potential of zero, and an atmospheric lifetime of only 5 days. Stored as a liquid and discharged as a clean, colorless gas, it extinguishes fire primarily through heat absorption — rapidly removing thermal energy from the fire without displacing oxygen, leaving residue, or causing any damage to electronics, documents, or sensitive equipment. Compliant with NFPA 2001 and ISO 14520, and safe for use in occupied spaces at design concentration.
